Father Heart of God

What’s the first thought that comes to your mind hearing ‘Prodigal Son’? If you’re like me, I think immediately of the wayward, backslidden Christian. But what if there’s a uniquely different meaning of ‘prodigal’? What if it’s not as much about the son but the Father? Jesus, in a counter cultural way presents a Father image, foreign to his listeners, that radically changed the way God would be perceived from then on. ‘Father’ was Jesus’s favorite term for addressing God, some one hundred and sixty five times in the Gospels. Is that how you address God? On this Father’s Day, how can God truly be a ‘Good, Good Father’ to you?
